Teens Gather at Jewish Heritage Night with the Pittsburgh Pirates

             J-SITE has not even begun yet, and already the teens of Pittsburgh are meeting up and having a great time.  On Tuesday, August 28th, J-SITE joined teens from the synagogue youth groups and the Diller Teen Fellows for "Soda and Snacks in the Sixth" at Jewish Heritage Night at the Pittsburgh Pirates Game.  Not only did the teens have a great time, but the Pirates won!

J-SITE Graduation and Celebration of Learning

           On May 20th, 2012 the J-SITE Seniors were honored at our Graduation and Celebration of Learning.  Thank you to Miranda Cooper, Tal Kroser, Sophia Rosenfeld and Eric Yoffee for speaking so wonderfully about their experiences at J-SITE.

          In addition, we honored the 8th and 9th grade inductees into the American Hebrew Academy Honor Society.

            It was a wonderful morning of celebrating all that our teens have accomplished this year and for the last five years at J-SITE.  Mazel Tov to all our graduates!  Check out the great pictures from the event.  Thank you to Michelle Serbin for taking these pictures:

Mazel Tov to the J-Serve Chairs Ali Karsh and Jesse Irwin, the Steering Committee, the Staff, the Chaperones and Everyone who participated in J-Serve 2012.

Thank you to Rabbi Jonah Pesner and Rick Recht for making this year's J-Serve one we will never forget!!

250 teens completed over 625 hours of community service, learned about Judaism and the environment and celebrated their accomplishments with Rick Recht.

8 Students from Pittsburgh are Selected for the American Hebrew Academy Honor Society

     Mazel Tov to the 8 J-SITE students from Pittsburgh who were selected for the American Hebrew Academy Honor Society.  This is a huge honor and we are proud of each of you.

      Each year the American Hebrew Academy accepts a select group from throughout the country to be inducted into their Honor Society.  Each of these students are one of 60 students in 8th and 9th grade selected from throughout the country to receive this prestigious honor!

       We look forward to honoring them on Sunday, May 20th at the J-SITE Celebration of Learning.

HaZamir Teens Travel To Baltimore

      Last weekend 6 of the 15 HaZamir Pittsburgh teens traveled to Baltimore, MD for the HaZamir Intervisitation.  During this two day workshop, the teens rehearsed, met other singers from around the county and sang with over 170 other teens!


      HaZamir: The International Jewish High School Choir will be meeting again in March to prepare for and sing at Lincoln Center with about 300 singers from around the US, Canada and Israel.  When they return, these teens will sing locally at various venues in Pittsburgh.

       MAZEL TOV to Rachel Dobkin, Penina Francus, Maddi Lemberg, and Elan Rosenfeld for being accepted into HaZamir's Elite Chamber Choir.
